Entrepreneur In The Making

If you know my daughter Alexa, you know she is a pretty good kid with many ambitions. She is always striving to do her best in whatever she sets out to do. Whether it is academics, sports, dance or literary, she always puts her best foot forward. This past summer Alexa attended Sew Camp for the third year. She loves to make things and has done some amazing work. This summer she made a monogram mailbag. She picked her own fabric and put together an amazing piece of work:

As school approached, we did the ever popular school shopping and purchased a backpack for her many books (which comes in handy in the seventh grade). Last week however, she opted to take her monogram mailbag to school. She came home with nine orders!! So what is a mother to do, when her seventh grader comes home with an entrepreneural dream? Well, I called the Fabric Center here in town and asked the director of Sew Camp if we could get the pattern. Alexa and I talked about how much work it would involve and how important it would be to manage her free time better to get these mailbags completed. We also talked about how much to charge and how much to donate to a local charity.

I have to admit, this mailbag is too cute to pass up. You go, Alexa!
